An astronaut named Gary and his planet-destroying sidekick called Mooncake embark on serialized journeys through space in order to unlock the mystery of where the universe actually ends and if it actually does exist. Gary Lockwood goes on intergalactic adventures with his planet-destroying sidekick Mooncake and anthropomorphic cat (and bounty hunter) Avocato. Together they will take on The Lord Commander and try to stop him from getting to 'Final Space': the most powerful and mystifying force in all the universe, which could very well mean the end of life itself. If you don't take it too seriously then this is very enjoyable to watch, as a bit of mindless distraction. I initially found it annoying, and clunky, but actually the characters and plot does pull you! It's not overly funny, apart from through the silliness of it all.

However, if was to take it a bit too seriously than I probably should, then it is not at all refreshing to see the main character Gary, as a white blonde idiot, showing all the classic signs of white privilege, of believing they are above the law and consequences - yet we are meant to find the guy endearing, despite his obnoxious behaviour! At one point I thought the show was going to move in the direction of making Quinn, a strong black woman, the main protagonist, but of course she eventually falls in love with the lovable idiot and lets him take the lead. He does eventually accept he was a complete jerk, and turns into a decent person, but the message again is that its ok to be a jerk if you're white, because you'll end up in your own personal prison space ship with an army of robots and AI to help you.. and ultimately you'll always have the chance to repent and say sorry and that makes it ok (sound like any one you might know, who is currently the most powerful person in the world!). Whilst the characters seemed a bit obnoxious to begin with the writing really takes them on and as they develop the story gets deeper and deeper.

Some of the humour seems a little tamer than it could be, I assume to keep it appropriate for younger viewers, but it still lands well.

Definitely worth a watch! Thoroughly enjoyed it
